Welcome to WSHRM

The Wisconsin Society for Healthcare Risk Management (WSHRM) is an organization that is committed to education, sharing, and networking for Healthcare Risk Management Professionals no matter what your experience level.

We welcome old friends and new colleagues to join us at our two annual educational conferences, which provide continuing education credits through the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM) and Wisconsin CLE credits.

Personally and professionally, WSHRM provides many opportunities to gather with colleagues and friends through the year. The organization is a source of support, encouragement, and networking for its members. It is much more than a professional organization; it is truly a group of friends who come to your side through thick and thin.

SPRING CONFERENCE CANCELLED

The Board of the Wisconsin Society for Healthcare Risk Management (WSHRM) regrets to inform you that, in light of the COVID-19 recommendations and travel restrictions, we are canceling our spring WSHRM conference, which was to be held on April 24, 2020, at the Delafield Hotel.  Providing you with the best and safest conference experience is always our goal. We look forward to seeing you at our fall conference, which will be held in September 2020 at the Ingleside Hotel in Pewaukee.

COntinuing Education OPTIONS

For those who are in need of education hours, we have compiled a short list of free (or less costly) options for continuing education credits available to those in the risk arena:

  • The American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM) offers journal articles with quiz completion, which earns 1 continuing education credit per completed quiz ($19 for ASHRM members, $99 for non-members).
  • ASHRM offered webinars, which are typically hour-long webinars and are sometimes offered for free (usually 1 credit).
  • Many of your company’s insurance carriers have webinars or archived items available for continuing education credits, often free.
  • ECRI offers continuing medical education and other continuing education opportunities on topics in patient safety and risk management through online courses, webinars, and other modalities. Opportunities for continuing education credits are included in some memberships.
  • The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) often offers free or low-cost continuing education options that may be risk pertinent.

Potential for CPHRM Recertification Extension

With the cancellation of the WSHRM Spring 2020 conference, we know that some members are concerned about receiving enough CPHRM credits in time for their renewal application. Therefore we, reached out to the American Hospital Association (AHA) which is responsible for CPHRM certification. For the time being, those who are concerned about their CPHRM recertification deadline due to being unable to complete your required number of credits or contact hours before your certification expiration date may reach out to AHA customer service to request an extension.  Requests are reviewed on a case by case basis. Revoked status credentials are not eligible to request an extension. You would still need to complete the recertification requirements for the cycle in which the expansion period falls. Contact AHA-Customer Care at cbyars@aha.org with your request.

NEW -- You can now renew your certification online and avoid processing delays. Submit your renewal applications to AHA via the  Certification Portal.
